Ziel des Seminars

Based on the fundamentals of tribology, that means friction, wear and lubrication, the main machine elements journal and roller bearings and industrial gears will be explained.
For journal bearings especially the viscosity will characterize the life of the bearings, whereas for roller bearings and gears viscosity as well as the friction and wear influencing additives are extremely important. It will be explained how viscosity and additives influence friction, wear and by that the life time of machine elements.
Therefore the properties of the main mineral oils and synthetic base oils as well as the most important additives will be explained.
