Friction, wear and lubrication

Based on the fundamentals of tribology, i.e. friction, wear and lubrication, the main machine elements journal and roller bearings as well as industrial gears will be illustrated.
Regarding journal bearings, it is especially viscosity which characterizes the life of the bearings. Concerning roller bearings and gears, viscosity as well as friction and wear influencing additives are very important. The seminar explains how viscosity and additives influence friction and wear, and hereby the life time of machine elements.
The properties of the main mineral oils, synthetic base oils and the most important additives will be presented as well.
